Learn a language--- Welcome to a new culture!

Have you ever thought about learning Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, English, Spanish... or any other language that grabs your interest? I thought so! I, too have thought about it, and guess what?  Learning a new language is like venturing into a new world, a new culture. I have learned through my own experience that learning a language is the most amazing adventure you can never imagine. Learning a language will take you, virtually, around the world and give the opportunity to learn about different and interesting cultures, traditions, and customs. The way you introduce yourself or approach to people, the way you behave or express yourself, the food you eat, your ideology, or even the way you dress is part of your culture and learning a language might make you land on many of these aspects.
Learning a new language helps people be more tolerant towards other ethnic groups and be less judgmental about their cultural practices. For example, Hispanic and African groups are very energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate people and may get loud when establishing a conversation while, on the other hand, many people might find this annoying. Learning a language and about other cultures make us more united.
Quick Joke--
Once upon a time, an opossum decides visiting his family on Christmas Eve which lives in the U.S while a skunk decides going to Mexico and visit a beautiful place named Cancun. Both of them were crossing the border at the same time and the skunk accidentally hits the opossum and says “I’m sorry”, and the opossum that did not know any English at all, but to introduce himself, replied back, “I’m Tlacua.”
Probably you did not understand the joke, but I will break up to you. Skunk in Spanish means, “sorrillo” while opossum in Spanish means “Tlacuache.” When the skunk hits the opossum, he apologizes saying, “I’m Sorry” (diminutive name for sorrillo, which the opossum thought he was introducing himself; therefore, the opossum said I’m Tlacua (diminutive for tlacuache. Get it?
Learning a language will allow you to see the world from a different perspective. It will even allow you to understand jokes which are really good for you to stay happy and laugh your stress out. It could be hard learning and acquiring a new language, but that is just part of the process. The whole idea of this blog is to make you aware that it is beautifully interesting to learn a language and invite you try it. Come on! Join my adventure and let’s discover together the treasure of a new language.
